Okay, so to this point I have talked about several different types of gymnastics mats. We discussed the octagon mat, the incline mat, trapezoids, and several other basic mat varieties. I'm pretty sure that just about anybody reading this blog understands the importance of mats when performing a sport like gymnastics, or martial arts, or cheerleading. These mats are important because they protect us to an extent.
Any time we are involved in a sport that requires a high degree of repetitive motion on hard surfaces our joints and internal organs take a beating. When you are young and indestructible you can't always feel the results of this abuse immediately, but as you become older the suffering your body has endured becomes readily apparent. When mats are used properly they can assist athletes in minimizing the damage to their body, and allow for increased repetitions of skills that need to be practiced.
Now it is true that gymnasts and other athletes can extend their workout periods through the use of topical ointments and sprays such as Bio freeze gel. These types of products are designed to help invigorate the athletes muscles and allow them to continue with that whatever type of exercise program they are currently using. When you combine the proper use of mats with the other medical advantages, such as these types of muscle products, athletes in these high-impact sports should be able to get additional mileage out of their bodies performing the sport they love, while having a minimal impact on their body as it gets older.
